Offering compassionate care for those living with serious illness for more than 40 years, Carolina Caring brings local hospice and palliative medicine services to our community. Our patient-centered care is provided by a specialized healthcare team led by doctors who care for your unique situation. The team also includes specially-trained nurses, nursing assistants, social workers and spiritual counselors who provide physical, emotional and spiritual support to enhance the lives of our patients.
Services are available anywhere a patient resides - assisted living centers, nursing homes, hospitals, at home - or in an outpatient setting. Carolina Caring offers palliative care services at its Palliative Medicine Clinic in Morganton to provide an extra layer of support for patients and families.
Palliative medicine services may be offered as soon as you are diagnosed with a serious illness like Parkinson’s disease, advanced lung disease, aspiration pneumonia, malignant cancers or after a sudden acute event, such as heart attack or stroke. Our services continue for as long as necessary.
How can Hospice and Palliative Care Help Me or My Loved One?
Hospice and palliative care programs can help you navigate a complex healthcare system with the support of doctors, nurse practitioners, counselors, social workers, chaplains and more. Our supportive care often brings a better quality of life and may help patients live longer. Several levels of care are available, including home care, continuous home care, inpatient care at our Hospice Houses or respite care, designed to give caregivers a temporary reprieve from the stress of caregiving.
Led by an expert team of specialized healthcare providers who take a team-based approach, Carolina Caring provides supportive medical and nursing care that is focused on comfort and symptom management. If you are receiving palliative medicine services you may receive care from Nurse Practitioners Patricia Bortnick, FNP-C and Tisha Fisher, FNP-C.
