Who is Carolina Caring?

Carolina Caring has been offering high quality serious illness care for more than 40 years. Our commitment to holistic, patient-centered care helps to improve patients’ quality of life and brings comfort and peace during a challenging time. Our specialized health care teams are led by doctors and include specially-trained nurse practitioners, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers and spiritual counselors to help our patients get the most out of life.

When Hospice and Palliative Care Can Help

Hospice and palliative care provide resources for patients and families to cope with the stressors that often come with serious medical conditions such as cancer, heart disease, dementia, lung disease and more.

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care focuses on symptom management to improve quality of life at any stage of illness and helps patients maintain the ability to do what they enjoy. It often lessens depression and anxiety as compared to other types of care because it allows patients to retain as much control as possible while providing an extra layer of support.

How is Palliative Care Different from Hospice?

Palliative care can be provided even if a patient continues to seek curative treatments, while hospice focuses on comfort care to help anticipate, prevent and treat the suffering that may come along with terminal illness.

Expert Care is Available

Our expert team of healthcare professionals is available locally to offer hospice and palliative care. This team includes doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses and nursing aides, social workers, pastors or spiritual advisors and trained volunteers. If you are receiving palliative medicine services you may receive care from Nurse Practitioners Vida Owusu, NP-C and Will Scott, FNP. If you are a hospice patient, a health care team will be assigned to assist you and your loved ones.

Get Care Wherever a Patient Calls Home

Our compassionate team cares for each patient wherever they live including nursing homes, assisted living centers, hospitals, or at home. We walk alongside our patients as they make important end-of-life decisions such as how long to continue treatment, when to remove life support systems such as feeding tubes, ventilators or dialysis machines, how to help your loved one or family member live their best life and what type of emotional and spiritual support would be most helpful.
